Glasgow Considers Stepping In as Host
The 2026 Commonwealth Games, set to be held in Victoria, Australia, will be the first since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II and the accession of King Charles III as Head of the Commonwealth. The Games will also mark the first time a multi-city model is used, with sports spread across five regional areas including Melbourne and Ballarat.
Despite the introduction of the multi-city model, the search for a host city is still ongoing after the withdrawal of Hamilton, Canada. Glasgow has emerged as a potential replacement, with a scaled-back offering being considered.
