A Tale of Love and Loss

The story of Pat Tillman, the NFL player who left his career to join the Army Rangers and was killed in Afghanistan in 2004, is one of both love and loss. In a recent interview, Tillman's widow, Marie Tillman, spoke out about her husband's death and the lasting impact it has had on her life.

A Whirlwind Romance

Marie and Pat met in high school and were married in September 2003. Marie described their romance as a whirlwind, and said that Pat saw her as more than just a "football wife." According to Marie, Pat was intelligent, thoughtful, and had a strong sense of social justice.

Tragedy Strikes

On April 22, 2004, Pat was killed in a friendly fire incident while serving in Afghanistan. Marie was devastated by his death, and in the days that followed, she discovered a letter that Pat had written to her in the event of his death.

A New Chapter

Marie has since remarried and now has five children. She has also launched Mac Mia, a website to help busy parents. Despite the pain of losing Pat, Marie has found a way to move forward and live a full and happy life.
