Three Lions edge Netherlands in thrilling semi-final
Ollie Watkins fired England to a 2-1 victory over the Netherlands in the semi-finals of Euro 2024 on Wednesday, sending the Three Lions into the final against Spain.
Watkins' late strike
With the game level at 1-1 in the dying minutes, Watkins pounced on a loose ball in the Netherlands box and fired home a stunning winner to send England to their first major final since 2021.
England's dominance
England had dominated the game for large periods, but they found themselves behind after just 10 minutes when Cody Gakpo gave the Netherlands the lead.
Malan and Salt centuries
However, England hit back in style with Dawid Malan and Phil Salt both scoring centuries to put the Three Lions in control.
Netherlands' fightback
The Netherlands fought back in the second half and deservedly levelled through Wout Weghorst, but Watkins' late goal ultimately proved decisive.
Final against Spain
England will now face Spain in the Euro 2024 final on Sunday in Berlin.
