Throughout her life, Golda Meir played a pivotal role in the founding of the State of Israel. She was a member of the Jewish Agency for Palestine and served as a delegate to the United Nations. In 1948, she signed the Israeli Declaration of Independence and became the country's first Ambassador to the Soviet Union.
Meir served as Prime Minister from 1969 to 1974. During her tenure, she faced the challenges of the Yom Kippur War in 1973. Her handling of the conflict cemented her reputation as a strong and determined leader.
Golda Meir died in Jerusalem on December 8, 1978. She remains an iconic figure in Israeli history, known for her resilience, intelligence, and dedication to her country.
