Ceredigion Preseli women pension campaigners praise MP

Campaigners from Ceredigion and Preseli have praised the work of their MP, Ben Lake

The women, who have been fighting for justice for women born in the 1950s who have been affected by changes to the state pension age, said Mr Lake had been "instrumental" in their campaign.

Mr Lake has met with the women on several occasions and has raised their case in Parliament.

He has also written to the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Esther McVey, and has secured a meeting with her to discuss the issue.

The women say they are grateful for Mr Lake's support

"He has been absolutely brilliant," said one of the campaigners, Margaret Bowden.

"He has listened to our concerns and has taken them seriously."

"He has also been very supportive of our campaign and has done everything he can to help us."

Mr Lake said he was pleased to be able to support the campaigners

"These women have been treated very unfairly by the government," he said.

"They have been forced to pay more into their pensions than men and they are now getting less out of them."

"I am determined to fight for justice for these women and I will continue to do everything I can to support their campaign."
